About

She didn’t have a good family life, being an unwanted child. She suffers from feeling overlooked and has a low self-esteem, which resulted in her constant need to prove herself. Lashing out just for the attention. She feels like life is always trying to fight her and that she needs to fight back.

Throughout their whole childhood, Lahya and Unavar have disliked each other to the point of hate. A lot of Lahya’s aggression towards Unavar stemmed from her bad family situation. She was also deeply jealous of Una’s close relationship with her mothers, especially their patience, their protectiveness and how they would never get angry at Unavar for anything ever. Especially towards Jhamar Lahya has always secretly held a deep admiration and respect, for her confidence and strength, but especially her openly warm and loving nature. She projected her own mother's coldness onto Tovahra, to make Unavar doubt her more reserved and introverted mother.

When she was about 10 years old, her mother just up and left the island. After that, Lahya’s was at her angriest from being so hurt and feeling so unloved and abandoned and at her nastiest towards Unavar. Ultimately, this lead to the day where Unavar was killed by the young Remorhaz and got revived by her mother. After that, their interactions ceased for a long while, because Unavar didn't return to school.

In the following years, things got publicly bad enough with Lahya’s father that the community got involved in trying to mitigate the situation and taking care of her as much as she let them.

When it became clear in Lahya’s teen years that her father had escalated into becoming physically violent towards his daughter, her father was exiled from Darrath’tarria. Jhamar in her role as the Earth Guardian (and an enraged mother) personally escorted him off the island and let him know that this was the last mercy they were showing him and if he ever dared to return he could not expect any more.

Jhamar being involved in kicking her father off the island has complicated Lahya’s view of her, even though she rationally knows it was better this way and for her benefit (something she also doesn’t know how to accept).

It took some time for Lahya to settle into this new life, with her having such a hard time accepting help. For a few years she stayed mostly at the community shelter in the biggest settlement.

Free of both of her neglectful parents, her dislike of Unavar also slowly faded into something like a milder rivalry.

When Unavar was around 14 years old and Lahya 15, they even started to hang out with each other on purpose occasionally, to train or to go hunting. It would take some time still until Lahya could stomach saying the word “friend” out loud, but their relationship had indeed become cautiously sympathetic.

Lahya moved into her own little shed when she was 18.

Unavar was somewhere between 16 and 17 when their friendship gained a physical component. Lahya considers herself an aromantic lesbian and is a purely no–strings-attached kind of girl who can’t stand the thought of being bound to someone.

Her “love”-language is another person’s hate-language and she’s allergic to receiving affection. She has however begrudgingly made exceptions for Unavar on very rare and specific occasions. In the last few years her harsh edges might have even worn off a little more noticeably.

Appearance

Pretty androgynous or butch-presenting, strong build but not broad. More agility than brute force.
